Right off the bat, despite the name, the song is actually a reference to the 1980 Robert Ludlum novel, The Bourne Identity, about a spy with retrograde amnesia who has to piece together how & why he is caught up in a life of espionage. Never quite knowing who to trust or whether his next move will be his last.
